SUSTAINABILITY NEWS
Here, we share the latest news and stories about everything we’re doing on sustainability. We work tirelessly to reduce our impact and make our products more sustainable, which involves making long-term changes – every day.
BLÅKLÄDER INVESTS IN SUSTAINABLE DYEING TECHNOLOGY
Blåkläder has become a part-owner of Swedish company Imogo, which has developed a resource-efficient textile dyeing technology. By spraying the colour directly onto the fabric and fixing it at room temperature, water, energy and chemical use can be reduced by up to 90%. It is another concrete step in reducing the environmental impact of our production.
250 GARMENTS NOW LABELLED OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN
Blåkläder continues its focus on OEKO-TEX® Made In Green, with 250 garments now carrying the sustainability label. The label verifies that production meets high environmental and social standards and has been independently assessed. More labelled products make it easier to choose workwear with documented consideration for both people and the environment.
NINE GLOVES NOW LABELLED OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN
Work gloves have long been seen as disposable products with a short lifespan, and are rarely part of the sustainability conversation. Now, nine of Blåkläder’s gloves have been awarded the OEKO-TEX® Made In Green label. This shows that even a product category often regarded as consumable can be developed with documented transparency and verified quality.

TOUGH GEAR MADE TO LAST – AND REPAIR
Blåkläder manufactures durable workwear to endure the harshest conditions, backed by a lifetime guarantee on the seams. Extending the life of your gear is easy: repair rather than replace. To make repairs even more accessible, we’ve launched Blåkläder Repair Service in select stores – and we’re just getting started. While we’re currently operating in Sweden, we have plans to expand. It’s better for your wallet and the planet; every repair tells a story! Repair, reuse, repeat!

BLÅKLÄDER INVESTS IN SUSTAINABILITY LABELLING
Blåkläder has spent several years investing in OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN – a sustainability label ensuring durable workwear free from harmful substances, with sustainable production and fair working conditions as primary standards. Traceable products help you make responsible choices for people and the planet!
BLÅKLÄDER’S SAFETY SHOES TESTED FOR MAXIMUM SECURITY
In Blåkläder’s modern shoe factory in Sri Lanka, safety shoes are crafted with unmatched comfort, durability, and protection. Every detail is rigorously tested in our own high-tech lab, ensuring shoes that deliver what they promise. Safer working days without worries – every step of the way!
SPIN-DYED TEXTILES SAVE 353 TONNES OF CO2 EMISSIONS
By switching from traditional to spin-dyed fibres, Blåkläder reduced carbon dioxide emissions by 353 tonnes and saved 43 million litres of water. A more sustainable method that makes a significant difference across the entire range – another crucial step towards greener production and a reduced climate footprint!

10-YEAR WORLD TOUR PROVES BLÅKLÄDER’S DURABILITY
After a decade of intensive touring with In Flames, their road crew, JesterCrew, can testify to Blåkläder’s extreme durability. It took over 700 performances worldwide, full of continuous wear, travel, and problem-solving, before their workwear needed replacing – proof that quality really does make a difference!

ALMOST 100 PERCENT BETTER COTTON AT BLÅKLÄDER
Almost all of the cotton Blåkläder uses are sourced via the Better Cotton Initiative, which supports sustainable development of cotton farms. This means workwear with the same durability – but produced with a lower climate footprint, less water, and fewer chemicals. This is an important step towards a more sustainable textile industry!
BLÅKLÄDER EXPANDS ITS INVESTMENT IN SOLAR ENERGY
At Blåkläder, we’ve used solar power in our factories for several years. Now, we’re increasing the amount of solar energy in our global value chain by installing solar panels in our main warehouse. Our headquarters already run on 100% renewable energy, and with this solar investment, we’re contributing further to fossil-free energy production.
NEW PACKAGING BAG BRINGS THE SCENT OF WOOD & QUALITY
Blåkläder has developed a new packaging bag made from recycled plastic and lignin, a natural by-product from forestry. The result is more eco-friendly and sustainable than conventional plastic and features a subtle wooden scent reminiscent of its origin. A step closer to the circular packaging of the future!

BLÅKLÄDER’S WORKWEAR DELIVERED BY ELECTRIC TRUCK
Blåkläder and Volvo are paving the way for the future by introducing one of the world’s first heavy electric trucks. With daily transports completely free from fossil fuel emissions, Blåkläder leads sustainable transformation, demonstrating how green logistics can become a reality – a vital step towards reducing climate impact.
