MEET FELICIA VESTIN
CAR SOUNDS, FREESTYLE SKIING & TINKERING
She grew up in the garage and has engine oil in her blood. Felicia Vestin is the Blåkläder Ambassador who, when she’s not tinkering on any of her beloved cars, likes to engage in downhill skiing and always stays constantly busy.
She bought her first car, a Porsche 924, when she was 16. Several years before she was legally allowed to drive it. But it was the construction and tinkering that got her hooked for life.
– I really like building something from scratch, turning the key and the feeling that stuff works! It has been something that has driven me since day one with my first car, says Felicia Vestin, one of Blåkläder’s ambassadors that we meet on, above all, social media.
Felicia’s love for cars, preferably the older ones, is inherited from her father. She claims to have more or less grown up in the garage where tinkering, building, planning and thinking have been the law above all others. When asked what the best thing about cars is, the answers are many:
– They sound good, looks good, and, of course, are fun to drive. Going out and riding on country roads on a sunny summer day is wonderful. Older cars are uncomplicated and cool. They have more soul than new cars, are easy to work with and nice to look at. There is much more room to modify them, and of course, they are cheaper to buy, says Felicia and laughs.
And what do your cars mean to you?
– A lot, especially my Porsche. I have put so much time and love into it. It isn’t easy to describe my relationship with my Porsche completely, but I grew up with it, and it is the apple of my eye.
Experiences, memories, friends, events and new places. Exhibitions, inspiring projects and goals to work towards. The commitment, one’s own and others’ exciting dreams. Felicia Vestin’s life surrounded by cars gives her much more than what a “regular” hobby would have given her. So much so that she does not even call it a hobby.
– I see it as a lifestyle. Considering how much I devote myself to my cars and how much I like them, it is impossible to say anything else, she says.
In addition to the exuberant car interest, Felicia has been working as a maintenance technician for over five years. She does everything from emergency work to rebuilding, welding, lathing, and anything that requires her expertise.
Her other major interest is skiing. Felicia competed in slalom when she was younger but has today switched to freestyle, and she skis as much as she can during the winter.
Cars and skis, speed and constant challenges. And then a full-time job. Felicia Vestin’s life is not for the lazy or uninterested. And that’s exactly how she wants it.
