MEET EMMA ERIKSSON
VINDICATION, FINE CARPENTRY & NIGHTLY RENOVATIONS
Once the love for renovation took hold of the Blåkläder Ambassador Emma Eriksson, it never let go. To the degree that it lasted even at night.
– Both my partner and I liked to renovate houses so much that we could do it well into the night. It was when the children were small and slept best to the sound of the saw, says Emma and laughs at the memories.
The love for renovation still exists today for the fine and furniture carpenter Emma Eriksson, one of Blåkläder’s ambassadors, whom we meet on social media. She and her partner David have renovated six houses together, still, seeing no end.
– It is actually a goal in the future to be able to work less with my everyday things and renovate more houses, says Emma Eriksson.
What Emma works with on a daily basis is, among other things, building furniture, windows and doors according to her customers’ wishes. The job is varied, rewarding and springs from a desire for vindication.
– It was when my partner and I had renovated our first house. When we were done, you could guess who got all the praise… Then the idea and the desire was born that I would train as a fine carpenter, which I also did and graduated with the highest possible grade, says Emma.
After the training, there has never been any reason to look back. Today, Emma Eriksson runs her own company and almost always works independently, which she enjoys very much, but when there is a crisis, she gets family help from her partner and their eldest son.
What are your dreams?
Like everyone else, I have many dreams, and they change most of the time. But one that has been with me for a long time is building and living in a nature house. Imagine being able to live in a huge greenhouse among palm trees, banana trees and avocado trees. Yes, you get it; that would have been super wonderful!
As said, Emma is one of Blåkläder’s ambassadors. She started her Instagram account @emmas.snickeri a couple of years ago, and the original idea was to spare her family and friends from a lot of carpentry photos on her private Instagram. The result? Over 15,000 followers and a newfound family on social media.
– It did not take long before I realized that there was a large and lovely carpentry family on Instagram who encourages, support, offer tips and other fun stuff. That gives me a really great feeling, says Emma Eriksson.
