WORKING ON SUSTAINABILITY IN AN UNSUSTAINABLE INDUSTRY
We make and sell workwear – and just like every other clothing manufacturer out there, we have a choice to make. Do we maximise sales no matter what, or do we work in a way that means we can look ourselves in the eye with a clear conscience when we’re in our 80s? We choose the clear conscience. This is our sustainability page, where we like to geek out about absolutely everything to do with being sustainable. Or as we tend to think of it – doing our job.

SUSTAINABLE MEANS LONG-LASTING
Blåkläder workwear must be durable and long-lasting. That’s our business concept, but it’s also our main sustainability factor. Lifespan is therefore top of our designers’ minds when developing products and choosing the necessary materials. We have a lifetime guarantee on the seams and will help you get your garments repaired if they do end up needing it.

OWN PRODUCTION FOR 100% TRANSPARENCY
Clothing companies without good control over their production can’t seriously improve working conditions or reduce their climate footprint. This is a key reason why we want to own our production. Ninety percent of the garments we sell are made within the walls of factories we helped build. We’ve always considered it unthinkable to sell clothes without transparent and responsible production.

TOUGH TO EARN, EASY TO CHOOSE
Sustainability labels can mislead customers – or revolutionise sustainability efforts. We’ve chosen to work with OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN because we wanted the label with the highest social and environmental sustainability standards. We’re forging ahead with ensuring that garment after garment meets the criteria and we won’t relax until all Blåkläder products have the Made in Green label.
