Protective gloves and other hand protective equipments against thermal risks (heat and / or fire)
Gloves certified to the EN 407 standard protect the wearer from the risks connected to exposure to heat, flame and splashes of molten metal.
The glove’s heat-resistant properties are tested and classified with a performance level as shown in the tables below.
Protective properties | Performance level |
---|---|
Limited flame spread | 1 - 4 |
Contact heat | 1 - 4 |
Protection from contact heat in performance levels 3 and 4 is only specified if Limited flame spread meets performance level 3 or higher. Otherwise Contact heat is specified in performance level 2.
The results for the following properties are only specified if Limited flame spread is performance level 3 or higher;
Protective properties | Performance level |
---|---|
Convective heat | 1 - 4 |
Radiant heat | 1 - 4 |
Small splashes of molten metal | 1 - 4 |
Large quantities of molten metal | 1 - 4 |
All gloves certified in accordance with the EN 407 standard must meet at least performance level 1 in Resistance to abrasion and Tear resistance, in accordance with EN 388.
