From our humble beginnings in rural 1950’s Sweden to the whole world’s grimy workshops, muddy building sites, tough working environments, weld spatter, and sparks. You will find Blåkläder’s high-quality workwear everywhere.

We have come a long way, but we are far from finished or satisfied.
The following is our story. Enjoy the ride.

Founded with production in Sweden

With our roots firmly planted in the heartland of the Swedish textile industry, Blåkläder has a long and proud history. With more than 60 years in the business, we have a deep and genuine knowledge of workwear.

Our story
OUR HISTORYOne of Europe's leading manufacturers of workwear

Blåkläder has been manufacturing and selling work clothes since 1959, initially on the Swedish market. We are now one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of heavy-duty work garments. We produce around 4,5 million garments a year at our factories. In addition to Sweden, we have representation in the following countries: Norway, Finland, Denmark, UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Estonia, Poland, Czech Republic, Spain, Iceland, Austria, Canada, USA and Japan.

Blåkläder produces its garments at factories closely linked to the company. Production in Vietnam was started in 1992, followed by Sri Lanka in 2006 and Myanmar in 2018.

Our close and long-term relationship with the factories is an integral part of our conscious sustainable production. This is a commitment we have made to ensure our garments are manufactured under the highest social, ethical, and environmental standards. It’s consistent not only with national and international conventions (UN and ILO) but also with quality and sustainability standards that are constantly checked and reviewed.

Our aim is to improve the socio-economic situation of the people we work with and the communities in which they live. Our relationships provide us with invaluable access to and knowledge about conditions at the production units, further enabling us to fulfill our commitments.

We make every effort to ensure our garments are produced under conditions that contribute to a more equitable future for the employees. Also, we ensure that processes and procedures are in place to guarantee worker safety, and ensure respect for human rights and the environment.
